Healthcare
In healthcare, accuracy is safety.
A misunderstood word in a medical room is not a small thing. Your Deaf and hard of hearing patients deserve to understand, and be understood, completely.
Healthcare
Lagundo ASL Services provides American Sign Language interpreting for hospitals, clinics, private practices, telehealth, and behavioral health across Las Vegas and Nevada. Under the ADA, healthcare providers are responsible for effective communication with Deaf and hard of hearing patients, at no cost to the patient. We bring qualified interpreters, and Deaf interpreters when the moment calls for one, to the settings where getting it exactly right matters most.
Why LAS
Why healthcare teams trust LAS.
Deaf-led, patient-first.
Led by a Deaf co-founder, we understand from the inside what a patient needs to feel safe, informed, and respected in a clinical room.
Accuracy where it counts.
Diagnoses, consent, medication, and instructions have to land word for word. We staff qualified interpreters to the setting, and a Deaf interpreter when linguistic complexity warrants one.
Confidential, always.
Our interpreters are bound by professional confidentiality. What is said in the room stays in the room, held to the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct.
In person, with a bridge.
In-person is our standard for high-stakes care. When a patient prefers video or a moment truly needs it, VRI brings the same care to the screen.
What We Cover
Across every point of care.
Hospital admissions, appointments, and procedures. Primary care, specialists, and dental. Telehealth visits. Physical therapy and rehabilitation. Behavioral and mental health, where a Deaf interpreter is often the difference. Patient education, discharge instructions, and family conversations. Wherever care happens, access belongs there too, at no cost to your patient.
Common Questions
Healthcare access, answered.
Who pays for a medical interpreter?
Under the ADA, the healthcare provider is responsible for providing effective communication, such as a qualified interpreter, at no cost to the Deaf or hard of hearing patient. The cost is never passed to the patient. This is general guidance, not legal advice.
Can a family member interpret instead?
In healthcare, no. A qualified professional interpreter protects accuracy, confidentiality, and the patient's dignity. A family member or child should never be asked to carry a medical conversation. That is exactly the access we provide.
Do you offer VRI for healthcare?
Yes. In-person is our standard for high-stakes care, and we provide video remote interpreting (VRI) when a patient prefers it or a moment truly needs a fast bridge, held to the same standard.
Reliability
Ready when your moment is.
A real answer, fast.
Tell us about your event and you get a clear, all-in proposal in writing, usually the same day. No phone tag, no runaround.
Short notice, handled.
A last-minute request is not a problem, it is a plan. We keep a vetted Nevada network ready for urgent coverage, not just dates booked weeks out.
Settled before you arrive.
For booked events we lock the team, the timing, and the sightlines in advance, so nothing about access is left to the day of.
In person is the standard.
And when a guest prefers video or a moment truly needs it, VRI brings the same care to the screen. Your access, your way.
Give every patient real understanding.
Tell us about your facility and what you need. We prescribe the right interpreter or team and send one clear, all-in proposal, usually the same day.
